Your solution to cheap baddies is to get rid of them all?Wheres the fun in that.

I just finished it 3 minutes ago. It was fun enough to keep me playing and the twist at the end was kinda cool but still not as great as I was led to believe and part 2 wont be on my list at least until it becomes a greatest hits. I definitely don't need to play again for a karma change.

Also am I the only one that tends to find sandbox games extremely repetitive?

Back to MGS4 and Dragon Age. No more interruptions until atleast MGS4 is completed. Must stop myself from buying God OF War 3 for now.

Generally I agree. I get bored fast these days in sandbox games. The last one I really played was GTA Vice City (which was awesome back then). A cool western ala Red Dead sounds cool, but I know I'd lose interest. Same for LA Noire (though I'm tempted once that once drops in price).

Infamous though is much more focused than most sandbox games. It feels more like an good action/adventure game, just with a bunch of side quests available.

Now get going with MGS4 already!

Steam sale damages! I always buy games I never play, or at least don't play for months (years). Though it's worth it for the indie gems you can find...

SpaceChem - $5 (I've already sunk 12 hours into this bad boy.)
Trine - $2 (Always meant to get this one.)
Frozen Synapse - $12.50 (Really cool turn based tactical strategy game.)
Beat Hazard Complete - $3.25 (Makes my eyes bleed.)
Atom Zombie Smasher - $3 (Seems quirky, that alone sold me on it.)
Chime - $1.25 (QuickLook looked decent.)
Greed Corp - $2.50 (Again, a QuickLook put this on my watch list.)
Fortix - $1 (A fantasy adventure Qix game? Nice.)

TTl: $30.50

This will keep me busy until Batman, Twisted Metal, and Uncharted come out this fall...

I just wanted to say that I've put about 20 hours into Xenogears now and if it wasn't for the high frequency of random battles, it would be one of the best RPG's I've ever played. Too bad it effectively killed my PS3 last week, but I got past that problem with a little help...

Anybody playing Lost In Shadow on Wii. Reminds me of the joy I had in playing ICO.

That joy of playing ICO quickly fades though as the game becomes repetitive and boring. Anyways, I completed Uncharted 3. While not having the same wow impact as part 2 it's still pretty epic and I find the multi-player to be better.

Anyone else playing the awesomeness that is Skyward Sword? I return to form I must say and the most most time I've put into a single sitting of gameplay since Ocarina (though to be fair Majora's Mask was the last I have to finish this Zelda game for me.)

Here's my post, word for word, from the Miyamoto cup forums (they are censored unfortunately):

As I was saying in the "whatchubeenplayin" thread, I decided to take a break from Skyrim to play some Zelda. I figure this game is maybe 30 hours long, and this way I can give Skyrim some time to patch its bullsh-- and I know I'll be playing that game for much longer anyways.

So I'll start with what people seem to be concerned about the most, the motion controls. Now I don't really consider IR reticule controls to be "motion controls," so while games like Metroid Prime, RE4, and S&P all benefit from being on the Wii in that respect, Zelda is the ONLY Wii game that I feel motion controls really do make the game better. Not being used to playing motion controlled games, it took me a while to get into certain aspects of the gameplay. I think it will be easier if I list key points of controls rather than try to explain them. Keep in mind, I have only played the game up until the end of the first (quite long) dungeon. This should be pretty much spoiler free if you've seen so much as an E3 demonstration or 2 year old trailer.

-Attacking in different directions is crucial to defeating every single enemy in the game (so far). I think I defeated a certain enemy 4 different ways, all depending on where he was.

-Controller response is very tight, way tighter than Twilight Princess. Every single "waggle-enabled" game has just been a huge chore to deal with accidental moves. Skyward Sword makes you swing the remote hard if you want to attack and simply moving it will change the position in which you hold it. Some enemies look for where you hold you sword so you have to telegraph a move from the left, but then quickly shift and attack from the right so they don't block it. This was frustrating at first, but once you realize that you just need to be patient and line up your attacks, it's pretty satisfying.

-Flying controls are, much like most games with gliding sections, not great. At first I really hated flying around, but now that I've done it long enough, it's manageable.

-Aiming the projectile weapon is great. I knew this was an improvement over Twilight Princess after I took out 2 small enemies one after the other with ease.

-Let's not forget these ARE motion controls and that means you will have to deal with some bullsh--. Holding your sword up to activate a certain action in the game usually takes a while to work because you have to be precise. In a way it's good because you won't be doing this action by accident, but at the same time you won't be doing it on the fly either. If you are like me and you shift your position on your couch/futon after a while, your aim and cursor position also change. Luckily you can just press down on the dpad to recenter yourself. This feature LITERALLY MAKES THE GAME PLAYABLE. Seriously, this game would be just awful if it didn't have this feature.

-Inventory is intuitive and rupees are worth collecting, for now.

-Some people like to use the phrase "this game looks great for a Wii game." Mario Galaxy looks great for a Wii game. Skyward Sword is one of the best looking games ever made, on any system. When the game starts, I thought "Ok this looks decent on my TV. I like how things in the background become more painterly the further you get away." Then I got to the first area with enemies and I thought "whoa, this looks incredible. The lighting is sharp and the edges are smooth. Is this game really not running in HD?" Then I got to the first dungeon and thought "this may be the best looking game ever made." The feeling was like that first time we all played Wind Waker and thought that it looked like you were playing a cartoon.

-Zelda, the character, is just awesome. I really like what Nintendo has been doing with Zelda lately. She never has the same exact personality, but she's always likeable and you always want to save her. Link and Zelda actually seem to have a relationship from the start. This time, it's personal.

-Link can dash, climb, and fall however goddamn far down he feels like. Sometimes I just run in circles because I feel like it. Running up steep hills is awesome. "RRRAAAAAA"

-Beedle needs to buy a real shirt. Seriously.

Moving on to part 2 of my 8 part summary...no I'm done. In closing, I didn't really like the motion controls in TP, but I didn't think they made the game unplayable either. Most of the motion controls in Skyward Sword improve the game more than they hinder it. It also breaks the mold of the normal Zelda formula a bit and takes more risks. Buy it.

Dammit. I've been out of video gaming touch the past few months, but I finally bought Batman AC, Uncharted 3, and LA Noire Complete at Best Buy today. I was really contemplating skipping Skyward Sword just because I don't want to buy one of those damn Plus things. $70 for one game?! Dammit. What else do I need to get...

A month later and still no. I have time now so I plan to finally really get into Uncharted 3 (and Batman AC, and a few others...) I have quite a pile of games to enjoy. Once I reduce the size of that pile I'll look at Zelda SS.

I got my favorite Trophy ever: Combat Leapfrog in Uncharted 3

Why? I didn't even try for it, but when this silver popped up I looked at what it was: kill 10 enemies alternating between hand-to-hand and shooting. Nice. Can't believe I got that by chance...

Almost at the end of U3. Very much a Uncharted 2 part 2, but pfft. That's awesome.

Uncharted 3, done. Batman Arkham City, done. Both awesome. I didn't 100% them, and may go back to a few of the remaining Batman side missions since they're fairly fun. Next up though... Choice between Infamous 2 or buy Zelda.

Well first, Ghost Trick. Grabbed the demo on iPhone and quickly bought the rest for $10. If you have an iOS device or DS, I haven't played all that much yet but I recommend this one highly.

Zelda over Infamous 2 any day.

While I was back in the States over Winter vacation I picked up some games on the cheap.

Yakuza 3 and 4, God Of War 3, Batman Arkham Asylum, and Saints Row 2.

Finished Yakuza 3 and focusing on God Of War 3 and Yakuza 4 now. God of War looks like it will be over soon so Batman will take its place.

By the way for anyone who loved Shenmue as much as I did Yakuza is pretty darn close to it's awesomeness and in many ways better. I can't believe it took me this long to play them.

I must say Twisted Metal is damn good fun. It has a very old school mentality in it's cheap/frustrating AI and super hectic multiplayer gameplay, but I haven't had this much pure fun with a competitive multiplayer since maybe the craziness of Q3A/UT (ok, maybe not that long ago).

I jumped in on Giant Bomb's TNT and played a few rounds as part of the GAF clan:) They played with unlimited ammo which quite changes things. I did alright but I don't think I ever killed GBTNT. Oh well.

Also, I finished up Infamous 2 to clear that off my backlog. Maybe not as good as the first one, but I really like these two games. While I love the new Batman games, Infamous does a better job of making you feel like a super hero. With that done, I will probably look to Zelda soon...
