Checking Amazon I see this:

Motion City Soundtrack: Commit This to Memory [EXPLICIT LYRICS]
Original Release Date: June 7, 2005

Wait, that's tomorrow! Hmm, I may have to get this, though I havent heard a thing off it. I guess that just makes it more exciting, but I just hope it isn't a letdown. Anyone hear anything off it? I could d/l... but that would ruin it.

oh sweet fucking christ, i have to leave the house tomorrow!

Wait, is that the ship date? At gamestop we list stuff by the ship date and always get it a day later (or 2 for budget titles). If it's definately out tomorrow, hot damn, goldfinger then alkaline trio then motion city...It's too much I tells ya.

No, MCS comes out today, as in it will be in stores. New CDs always come out on Tuesday (same for DVDs), sheesh!

Assuming Amazon's date is correct that is...

And if you care, a certain someone who will remain nameless for certain 'reasons' says its the best CD of the year, so far.

And if you care even more, it seems the Aquabats have a new CD out today too... hmm.

Well I picked up that Motion City cd. I haven't been able to really listen to the whole thing outside of it being subdued by my work environment. However, from what I've heard, it does seem to be really good. I also picked up Nightwish's Once. I heard 1.5 songs and just had to get it. It's so epic and unique. It marks my first metal band cd purchase in like 6 years. Then again, it's nothing like most metal.

I'll have to get that aquabats cd too. OH and my ghost in the shell: SAC 2 cd set should be in soon. So many damn cds...

Well I picked up Motion City Soundtrack: CttM too, and it's quite good. It's similar sounding to IatM, maybe not quite as catchy, but it's early. I do know this is a great followup to a great album. Quite impressed so far.

I also got Aquabats CHARGED! Keep in mind I'm a big Aquabats fan. I miss the horns, and I don't think it's as good as their past best work, but I still really like it. All that matters is that they still know how to make fun music. I mean names like Demolition Rickshaws! and Tiger Rider vs. The Time Sprinkler ensure a good time. I need to listen to more before I decided just how good it is...

Hmm, anyone here ever pick up that new Reel Big Fish about 2 months ago? I hear it's quite good too. Forgot all about that one... doh./ So much wasted on CDs when I should of spent it on DS.... riiiiigt./ Smile

Jesus, now you're bringing your DS bashing HERE too? Well if the past has taught us anything, it's that if bone complains about the same thing all over the forums, he'll eventually buy it. I can't wait!

TELL ME THAT YOU'RE ALRIGHT! AND EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT! God this song is so damn catchy and I love it! They are so good at chorus placement that you completely forget this is pop punk here. I'm loving the new motion city, but my interest tends to wane towards the second half. You know what that means? It usually means those songs are LESS catchy and I'll grow to appreciate and love those all the more.

You are a big aquabats fan? I don't remember that...well I'll have to get that AND the new RBF. i hope they somehow managed to backpedal a little bit but I'm sure it's just like their last cd Sad Don't get me wrong, it's a good cd, but not the ska I know and love. If it weren't for streetlight manifesto, ska would be all but dead to me.

I'm a spending machine! I just got my Ghost in the Shell: SAC OST 1 & 2 yesterday. Afterwards I picked up the latest Aquabats and Reel Big Fish. Both cds seem good, but I haven't really loved them as much as Motion City. Hopefully with repeated listens I'll grow to like them more. The first few RBF songs were pretty decent, but again, my interest waned afterwards. With so many new cds to listen to, I think for once I'll just keep them all (6 or so) in my car's cd holder for about a month.

Oh yeah, Yoko Kanno rules.

The new Aquabats is good! Even without any horns I don't think they've changed. Which is good. Without songs about the Goonies or Playdough or School Lunch, I don't know if its as quirky as their past stuff, but its still good.

I know what you mean about the later songs on MCS, but I think the last song is one of my favorites...

And you'll have to let me know how RBF turns out after a few more listens...

A few more listens in a piece, here's my steadily growing opinions:

Motion City: Ok the initial "OMG I LOVE THE CATCHY SONGS" is kind of wearing off and yes, I do love the last song on the cd. It's easily the best cd I've gotten this year.

Nightwish: It's still epic and unique for my tastes. Can't say it's anything unexpected. Good cd.

Alkaline Trio: still not sure...I don't hate it though.

The Aquabats: it's definately the same ol Aquabats. It may not be mod ska, but it's mod SOMETHING. It needs more listens but I have a feeling I'll like this one.

Reel Big Fish: It seems like the biggest dissapointment thus far. It may not be worse than the new goldfinger, but eventually I really liked a few tracks on that cd. I already really like a couple on this one, but as a whole I don't really dig it. Again, more listens may (hopefully) change this. Don't buy it just yet.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC OST's 1&2: OST 1 is from the first season and 2 is from 2nd gig that I haven't actually started yet. I still need episode TWO! Anyways, the quality of the music in the ghost series is on par with Cowboy Bebop, and I think I actually prefer Ghost. This is because of the diverse abilities of Yoko Kanno. Techno, jazz, funk, rock...it's all here. I picked up both cds off ebay for $15. Now if I can buy the latest RBF for $15, this is a steal. Disc 2 may be my 2nd favorite cd this year after MCS.

Well considering Yoko Kanno did the music for both series it's no suprise they sound the same.

Well that IS why I made the comparison. Also bebop is known for it's great music (and like 20 soundtracks).

While I'm here, let me take the time to say that I'm liking the new Aquabats cd more and more. I forgot that to really appreciate their music, you need to listen to all of the lyrics. Right now I think "Look at me (I'm a Winner)!" is my favorite of the bunch.

You've got 4 radios blastin classic rock. With your fist raised high and a hitch in your step, you've got it all.

Duh, Aquabats is all about the lyrics.

I failed to mention I got the new Foo Fighters: In Your Honor (just the $11 version and not the $28 version that comes with a 15 minute documentary...). Not sure what to make of it just yet. No Color and the Shape, but also no One by One either.

I'm a big Foo (and Dave Grohl) fan, and I do really like this CD, but how much so? Needs more time. I'm not sure I like how CD1 is 'rock' and CD2 is accusitic. I'd almost rather have it mixed up. Oh well.

Next week: Billy Corgan (and Dropkick Murphys, Transplants... not that I'm getting those, well, anything remotly Rancid related at least deserves a listen)

oh man another dropkick murphys? I really don't keep up on the music front so it's good that you tell me these things bone. I remember a certain someone did this work for me in years past...oh well. I guess I need another cd now. Personally, I think Blackout is the best Murphy's cd. It's a rare occassion when a band's latest cd is the best, but that's just how I feel.

I don't know if Blackout is their best... though it is good. Part of me still likes the older, rawer, faster Dropkick better. I haven't really heard the new stuff, so we'll have to see...

And don't get too used to these CD updates... it won't last. In fact after this week, I have no clue when the next interesting CD is to come out.

Well so I got Corgan's Future Embrace. Seems pretty good so far (but I'm a HUGE Corgan fan). It's probably closest to the Pumpkins song One or the album Adore, but even then it's still very different. Not as much fun as Zwan was, but I still like it. Though his picture on the cover and in the booklet is creepy... Lay off the heroin man!

Supposedly in an ad in the Chicago Tribune today for the album, Corgan hinted at reuniting the Pumpkins..........

Oh, I also got the new Dropkick... but have yet to open it, cough..........
