So Gaslight Anthem came to Madison and put on a kick ass show. Brian Fallon (the lead singer) for some reason had this big smile on his face most of the show. It was almost like they were surprised people came out to see them in little ol' Madison, but they had a lot of energy and got to put on a full set since they were the headliners. They even played We're getting a divorce for the first time in at least 6 months (or so they claimed...). A nice mix of songs from Sink or Swim and 59 Sound. At one point they said they like to talk about their favorite bands to see what other people also like and of course someone shouted Bruce Springsteen. Yeah thanks for picking the obvious...

And Tshirts were only 12 bucks so I had to get one of those on the way out.

i picked up volumes two and three of saves the day's acoustic EP series at their show with the alkaline trio last weekend. the trio put on a great show per usual, but i hadn't seen saves the day prior to this show in over seven years so even though its been about eight days since their set ended i'm STILL looking for some of the shit i lost during it. i want to be hugging chris conley all the time.

also, bone, if you're down we're doing a 25-best modest mouse songs list on the p-boi forum if you want to submit a list of your top 25.

also, you guys should gear yourselves up for what has potential to be the best album of the year, "the loud wars" by so many dynamos.
http://www.myspace.com/somanydynamos ch-check it.

Holy crap, is So Many Dynamos' Flashlights as good as the two tracks on MySpace make it out to be? I don't care about the new one yet, I need to check that one out first... How is this the first I've heard Search Party...

I pulled out Through Being Cool just the other day for a listen...

Wait, 25? Why so damn many? I couldn't name 25 songs without looking them up. Hmm... though I'd surly be run out of town since my top songs would contain all their commercially successful songs:)

I already ordered Flashlights...

I wasn't too happy with the sound quality so I pulled Maps & Atlases up on MySpace... And I must say that is good. Sigh, I'm missing out on way too much by working so much lately.

the loud wars status: amazing. even more chaotic and spazzy and ornate than flashlights. this band deserves to be huge.

Damn... I'm planning on going to Lollapalooza in August, which Gaslight is at, but I'll take any chance I can to see them... I see them stopping in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, no Madison? Damn you Gaslight! <<shakes fist>>

my love for pavement has transitioned into an obsession with stephen malkmus and the jicks. pencil rot has the catchiest synth line i've heard in forever.

My love of Broken Social Scene transitioned into my enjoyment of Metric. No idea why it took so long for me to pick up Fantasies. Gold Guns Girls and especially Sick Muse are awesome.

stadium love and satellite mind are my two favorite tracks.

just downloaded double nickels on the dime by minutemen, which is supposed to be one of the best american rock albums of all-time. i've heard isolated tracks from it on youtube and wherever but have never made the effort to digest the entire thing so i hope it lives up to the hype (these things rarely do) but i'm encouraged by what i've heard.

oh, also have been all about les savy fav again after being reminded of how much tim harrington rules. awesome art-punk. check them out if you've ever dug q and not u or the dismemberment plan or any band like that.

I just recently pulled out No Kill No Beep Beep after all this So Many Dynamos talk...

I must say while the iPhone "camera" sucks (it isn't meant to be used as one), the Dropkick Murphys do not.

you still managed to capture the magic.

I just recently picked up both the latest Rancid and Dragonforce. Pretty much everyone i know makes fun of me for liking dragonforce but I just can't help loving their ridiculous hair metal. The new Rancid seems alright and I can at least say it is better than 2000. I believe I heard them saying something about "out come the wolves" in one of the songs but I don't remember why...

God, I really do wish I could get behind the Murphys, but after they whored themselves out to anything even tangentially related to Boston and did so with one of their most gratingly irritating songs. Also, their last two albums have been dreadful. ALSO, their local shows are populated by dudes who still think moshing is appropriate well into a person's 30s.

Rancid performed a new song on Conan a few weeks ago and I felt so bad for Tim Armstrong.

Seriously. This is why Les Savy Fav are the best thing:
