1. I got it for free.
2. It's a great game? Also I hate myself.
I watched the quick look for demon's souls on giant bomb and it's just further proof that I really don't agree with them most of the time. I really just go there because I find them entertaining. At least Jeff plays fighting games and Brad plays RPGs. Persona 4 was a fluke. I don't think I have EVER agreed with Ryan. |

So Uncharted 2 was really great. It really did everything perfectly. So perfectly in fact that every game I play from now on will seem unpolished and janky by comparison. There's really no need for impressions. If you own a ps3, you own uncharted 2.
After that, I decided to go back to Demon's Souls. After a couple days of that I said FUCK THIS and decided to play some Brutal Legend. I heard that it was a blend of genres that included a bunch of stuff I wasn't really a fan of. Turns out that Brutal Legend is in fact, every annoying side mission genre all rolled into one.
You've got:
-watered down RTS
-escort missions
-...DRIVING escort missions
-TIMED driving escort missions
-large open world with not enough things to do
-janky combat with no jump button
Again, everything is going to feel unpolished after Uncharted, but I was really expecting more single character gameplay. There is so much driving and the real meat of the game comes in simple RTS missions that I've been pretty dissapointed. With that said, it's still a good game. It's definately not as funny (or fun) as Psychonauts but the music and cameos are all great. As a story, it's also much deeper. Jeeze, Im not really sure where I stand on this one. I'll play it till the end just for the story/jokes. |

Well, Best Buy is having a buy 2 get 1 free deal. They didn't have anything in store but online I got 3 games (tax is added, but free shipping so it's still not bad).
-Uncharted 2
-Borderlands
-Beatles Rock Band
I wasn't quite sure what to get other than Uncharted of course, but these should work... |

So after finishing the 7 hour Brutal Legend, I went back to Demons Souls...
ahaha just kidding. I decided to try out Magna Carta 2. I honestly expected it to be terrible since the first one was and almost no on has reviewed the game even 2 weeks after it has been out. So yeah, not too bad, but still has a fair share of problems.
Tonight I got in a TON of Borderlands co-op. We all chose different characters so it's a decent setup. It is definately a shooter first and an RPG second. Fallout 3 was great but the shooting was so-so. Here the shooting is decent but man it is a huge overworld and keeping everyone in line is pretty time consuming. You will enjoy this game.
I plan on doing the Buy 2 Get 1 at Best Buy with Tekken 6, Ratchet & Clank, and something else. Maybe Magna Carta since I only borrowed it. I'd rather not waste it on that though... |

| I got in about 1-2 hours of Borderland, and I'd have to say I like this game. Fun shooter combined with non-annoying RPG elements (Fallout seemed too RPG heavy and wide open so I stayed away). I am a sucker for Diablo-like games. My only complaint so far is picking stuff up is annoying having to always look down at it... |

well it makes things more fair so that your teammates aren't walking over everything in the middle of a gunfight. It's definately the best co-op I've played in a long time.
Ratchet has been surprisingly good. I really didn't have any anticipation for this one but it's probably better than the last one in every way. The story is easily the best in the series too. |

Still haven't played Uncharted 2... But I have played Borderlands quite a bit. I've mixed it up between solo and co-op depending on my mood, and I can never quite tell what will count towards checking off a quest in my game when playing online. No matter. That's what make the game entertaining.
Though I do hate how a couple time I joined a game which ended up adding like 20 quests to my list. Quest overload! |

Ive been playing Borderlands for the past 3 sundays with the same 3 guys. It's nice to have that annual game every week just like when we used to play gears every sunday. I never really know whats going on with the quests. I'm the soldier so I'm always making sure everyone's got health. It's a good thing the story is so weak because I'd hate missing all the dialogue from not turning in quests myself.
I really need to beat a game. I stopped playing Demons Souls for Uncharted. Once I actually beat that, I went to Magna Carta 2. I stopped playing that for Ratchet and I stopped playing Ratchet for Dragon Age. Luckily I don't care about Modern Warfare 2 so I get this week off from buying a game. I plan on getting Phantasy Star Zero but I don't know when I'll play it or if anyone else is getting it to play online.
Dragon Age is GOOD but man do I hate being frozen by every goddamn mage. |

Ok so my final time for Dragon Age was somewhere between 75 and 80 hours. I forget. I got the "went everywhere" achievement so I know I didn't miss any major areas. However I did not recruit every possible character. I wonder if one of those few people that I didn't offer to join me could have been one of them or maybe some DLC in the future will have another guy to recruit.
Despite the many many glitches I experienced, it was still a great game and I'm tempted to get the new DLC coming soon.
I downloaded the demo of the 360 indie game that creates shooter levels for your music. Having over 5000 mp3's makes finding the right song very long and difficult. It seemed cool but it's the closest thing to give me a seizure that I can remember. I might buy it eventually but not now. |

So I got my copy of PS0 sitting in the "pile of games I need to play" and I said I wasn't going to play it until after I beat Magna Carta 2. But then I realize tomorrow is thanksgiving and I could probably use a game to play while most of the family is talking about god only knows. I put a couple hours into it just now.
It really does feel like a sequel to PSO. Now I have only played single player so far but I can still give you a good idea how things work. There is no lobby. Basically you form your team and it shoots you into the hub world. Having a hub world with a teleporter is all I need in my Phantasy Star. Almost all of the changes in PSU were for the worst and the good ones like strafing and photon arts are actually in PS0. Techniques are NOT confined to specific weapons. This really bugged me in PSU. On the other hand, the psp game was all menu based outside of dungeons. I didn't really like that either.
Combat feels the same but now you can hold the attack button to perform a photon art. Each weapon has its own. The camera is the same as it was on Dreamcast. Press L to center the camera behind you. I know some people really hate this but I honestly have no problem with it for this type of game. Hell, most of the sound effects are the same too. I'm probably a sucker for nastalgia but this is definately the best Phantasy Star I've played since the original PSO. The fact that single player was so enjoyable has to mean something. Oh yeah, enemies actually drop items and not just little synthesis pieces. WHO KNEW!?
One thing I'll mention is that you have to deal with a lot of text-based story between missions. As someone that plays a ton of smaller jrpg's, this wasn't a big deal for me but I guess it bothers some people. Also the character design leaves much to be desired. Originally I thought about going back to my very first character and being a ranger but he looks like something out of "Hey Dude." In the end I want to have a sweet sword and as many techniques as possible. So I picked a lady Newm. 2 things I've never been in a PS game.
So someone buy this damn game so I can play online! I COULD try free play but I'd rather not. Man I love friend codes! |

Shit. I ordered a different game on Friday. Forgot about Dre, err this one. I'll have to order it... Friend codes are fucking lame.
I suck though since I still need to open Uncharted 2. On the plus side, I bought MGS Touch for the iPhone for a buck! Still need to play that one as well... I've been too busy, playing Beatles Rock Band and fooling around with I am T-Pain. |

No:( All my Guitar Hero (3, WT, 5) and Rock Band (2, Beatles) games are on Wii (accounting for almost half my Wii collection) since for whatever reason I got GH3 on Wii and just stuck with it so I could get the standalone game each time (and usually for 30-40 bucks).
That said, there is one exception... |
