DAMMIT

Soul Calibur 2, F Zero GX, same week?

There was a time (early 2002) when I couldn't get 2 good Gamecube games within 6 months.

I think I'll just get SC2, Burnout 2 really ruined my anticipation for F Zero, I think I can wait a week or two for it now.

Don't get too excited since after next week it will be back to the usual '2 games in 6 months'... (ie Mario Kart and Viewtiful Joe)

I don't have your problem though since I dont plan on getting FZero and I still dont know which system Ill get SC2 for. I need to try them out first.

I think I've played the F-zero demo at least...6 times, maybe more. Sure the demo only offers the vanilla mute city, but even that track is pretty fun to race on. I think everyone that owned f-zero X on n64 completely forgot about that track once they unlocked the later and crazier circuits.

Now I've played Burnout 2 a great deal, as well as the original Burnout. The game is pretty damn good. However, the only thing it offers over F-zero is a simulated sense of speed with it's blur effect. F-zero is actually extremely fast on its own merits, not to mention the tons of stuff to unlock, customize, and actually do. Oh and Burnout doesnt have golden nippled Captain Falcon.

The smart thing to do would be to get SC2, wait a couple weeks, then get F-Zero. I however am getting both games when they come out, not to mention (hopefully) the Streetlight Manifesto debut cd. Another smart thing to do is NOT spend 76 dollars on an arcade stick from Japan....sigh.

So is Burnout 2 a somewhat similar game to F-Zero? Because that too wasn't my type of game. If I didn't really like F-Zero X and Burnout, is there any chance I'd like F-Zero GX?

I still need Rancid's new CD that just came out, Mars Volta (or so I'm told), maybe the Neptunes Clones, not to mention Simpsons season 3 and Futurama season 2... Sigh, I have enough to get without any games...

Dude wtf is wrong with you, you didn't like F Zero X? I just love the insane fucking speed and the only game that has come close to that is Burnout 2!

Neptunes clones is the shit, I'll discuss it on the torkboard.

Right on tork. Let's not forget about death race and the fact that you can kill your opponents without resorting to some lame weapons.*

If you didnt like burnout 2 or f-zero X...you must be a redneck...well that and you probably...well...let me ask you a question. Did you not like f-zero X because of the very simple graphics? I understand some people really hated how you basically raced in an endless void. Now the series has actual towns and amazing graphics. The track design even looks better. Just compare the old mute city to the new one. A simple track has never felt so good. Honestly, the game is already fun and has lots to unlock. Try out the demo or rent it at least. One Rush fan to another.

*I have nothing against extreme-g and wipeout. In fact I like both games. However I find the battle in f-zero to be more enjoyable.

They should call all Neptune cd's. "A waste of good beats"
Clones is pretty much crap from what i heard. The neptunes make great beats but then they let rappers like the clipse use them. "sigh"

I think most people passed on F Zero X on N64 from looking at the seemingly simple graphics in screen shots, failing to realize the 2 reasons why they had to be:

1. The incredible speed of the thing.
2. On of the few N64 games that held a steady 60 fps framerate!

On Gamecube it should own, I haven't played it yet though.

Umm I think it was a steady 30 frames per second...though that is quite impressive for 30 crafts on 64 bit hardware. Of course the GC version is 30 crafts going 60 frames per second with no slowdown and boy howdy it's fast. Our store got an extra GC demo so I now have it. Seeing as how it has SC2, 1080, Viewtiful Joe, F-zero GX, and Rebel Strike playable; I have no reason to keep my preview disk anymore.

Speaking of 1080 Avalanche, the game feels great. Now Im a big SSX fan and I can gurantee the tricks in SSX 3 will be more off the wall than in 1080, this game just plays and controls really well. Anyone that liked the n64 original will appreciate the enhanced balancing and great sense of speed. It's also nice to be able to do a flip without that panda. There's little details that also make the game great even in the demo build. Sure, I was impressed with the board trails and snow effects in the original, but now there's little things like speed lines* and slight blurring when you're going down a steep slope, or how the snow sticks to your clothes and melts off when you fall in a pile.

*speed lines can be found in sonic adventure 2 and f-zero GX. They enhance the sense of speed, much like blurring did in Burnout (which is also present in 1080).

Well it's hard to pin point, but I just couldn't get into F-Zero X (or the original). I want to say it bored me, but that isn't the right word. It didn't excite me? Wait... Again I'm not a big racing fan unless it takes place on city streets and with lots of air. But I'll try GX at some point and see if I like it.

Believe it or not I never played the SNES F-Zero. I hear it is similar to the GBA versionm which is one of the worst racing games I've ever played on ANY system.

F-Zero X is just a spectacular game and the reason why I've been such a big Captain Falcon fan.

Oh I believe it. I never played the snes one either. Personally I blame the lack of a job and the fact that my extremely small allowance went towards ninja turtles and power ranger action figures.

I dont really understand how someone can love F-zero X and hate F-zero Maximum Velocity. I mean, they are different games but still...they feel similar in some ways...it's just strange I guess. Anyway, F-zero comes out in 2 days. SC2 in 3. Tis an exciting week.

When I purchase GX, I will own the original version, and the n64 version also! Now all I will need is the GBA version! Yahoo!
