Just a reminder there will be a new episode of ATHF this Sunday at 12:15 a.m Eastern!
I think it's just one new ep which is fine since I have enough to watch with FMA, Champloo, GitS, and Boondocks...
I still kind of like FMA, but it's no Champloo which may be my second favorite anime after Beebop. I really like GitS2 too. I wasn't so sure at first, but Section 9 is back! Boondocks is good, but damn, it can get waaay to preachy at times. Oh well. Any show that steals Champloo's opening is worth watching. |

Now that the "Laughing Man" fansubber has finished all 26 episodes of 2nd gig (and because I ran out of one piece) I will be starting that tomorrow. It should hopefully be just a couple weeks to watch the whole thing.
Of course you'd like Champloo and Bebop as they are the most western animes ever conceived. On a side note, I'd say Champloo is in my top 3 and bebop...maybe 5. |

West side! Can we help it if the West owns all?!
I can't say I like Champloo more than Bebop, but mainly because I haven't finished it yet. And well, I really haven't watched that many other series. (I'm not a fool since most anime sucks.) Trigun was pretty good, better than FMA, but certainly not better than any of those others I listed. FLCL was good, but that's mainly based on its sweet soundtrack. But it's up there. Robin was decent, I guess. That wolf one just pissed me off even though I watched it all for some reason (much like how I somehow played through BK...). I couldn't watch more than 2-3 eps of Neon or Scryed. And that one ep of Inuyasha was painful. I could never quite get into that book one even though it didn't seem too bad.
So in short, giant robots suck. |

Robin was NOT decent, though I only saw the first half. Now if the second half was a amazing, then i guess on average the series is OK.
I watched all of Wolf because I just really wanted to know what the hell paradise was. Turns out everything just went back to normal in the end...yippee. Also the art was good.
S-cry-ed is great and very unique. I own it on dvd now so I'll probably rewatch it in Japanese because my god the english voices sucked.
Spike as Mugen = completely different character
Neon is great if you like whiny babies. At times the animation is amazing but overall it's pretty overrated despite being really good. |

It seems AS has mixed up their lineup yet again. All I know (and care) is that Champloo is now on Thursday. The same day Earl and Office have moved to on NBC...
But enough of that useless info. I was checking out my ATHF vol 4 DVD I recently got for some reason and it has their funniest moment yet. I don't know if they're the first to do it, but when you don't expect it, it's one of the funniest things you'll ever see...
Spoiler: | You know how most TV DVD sets have that play all option? Well on ATHF4 they mean it. Play all... at once! The screen is split into 13 boxes playing all 13 episodes simataneously. The DVD is worth it for this alone... |
Though I was hoping the hilarious Meatwad/Brak Pulp Fiction recreation was on here. On well. |

Some new AS news... including some HUGE and SWEET news!
| Quote: | It's been a while since there's been a news update on what's going on Adult Swim, so let's start with the big stuff.
[all times Eastern]
The Boondocks, as I'm sure many of you know, has been renewed for a second season. Meanwhile, new episodes of the first season resume this Sunday at 11 (and on this week's Friday Night Fix).
Robot Chicken's second season will begin in April 2006. The Robot Chicken First Season DVD will be released on March 28.
Venture Bros. will be returning for season 2 in June 2006.
Stroker and Hoop has been canned. A second season to the series will NOT be made.
Tom Goes to the Mayor's second season is currently in production, and will be returning sometime in spring or summer.
Samurai Champloo's debut on Friday Night Fix was the most watched show on FNF last week, with over 9,000 unique viewers watching episode 22 of the series at adultswim.com.
Schedule Changes:
Venture Bros. will be returning to the air on Saturday, February 18 at 11 pm. Repeats of Boondocks will move to Thursday nights.
The 5 am hour is scheduled to change in March, though to what is still unknown. There are also rumors that another night[s] will gain the 10 pm hour the way the Sunday night block has and that this would also be announced in March. The weeknight lineup will also likely see an overhaul at the same time as Scryed and Lupin will have completed two full runs through their episodes by then and Samurai Champloo will be finishing its run as well.
Beginning next week, reruns of Fullmetal Alchemist will air on Monday nights at 12:30 am starting with episode 26, "Her Reason."
Anime Announcements/Speculation:
Announcements of new anime acquisitions should be coming very soon. Adult Swim is having a Q&A sometime around mid-February in which Kim Manning, who is in charge of scheduling and acquisitions for the anime half of the block (among other things), will be answering questions regarding the Adult Swim Action schedule.
As it stands now, there are two series that are looking to be extremely likely to be announced for Adult Swim. They are:
GUNxSWORD
Eureka seveN
Geneon has stated that they want GXS to be "as popular as Trigun and Cowboy Bebop" (both Adult Swim shows), and the producer of the English version of the series stated last year that they were trying very hard to bring the show to Adult Swim.
Eureka is likely for numerous reasons. Firstly, it's US DVD debut is in April, which is perfect timing for a number of vacancies in the Adult Swim Action lineup. Secondly, its pedigree is riddled with Adult Swim alum, between Studio BONES (which did production work on Adult Swim titles like Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Wolf's Rain, Escaflowne: The Movie, and Fullmetal Alchemist) and Dai Sato (screenwriter on Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Samurai Champloo, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). And finally, Bandai has already announced that Eureka seveN WILL be broadcasting on a major animation programming block and that the series' episodes would be webcasted simultaneously with its television premieres. Which sounds suspiciously like Adult Swim's Friday Night Fix.
Regardless, Adult Swim will be completely out of new episodes to show of every one of their anime series except for Inuyasha by the end of May. Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG will all finish their runs between now and then, so expect multiple acquisition announcements soon. Venture Bros is coming back! About damn time! Glad to see Robot chicken back too which is a pretty cool show too. But Venture Bros! WHOOO! And some new animes that no one has ever head of... Go Team Venture! |

Seriously, Ive never heard of those 2 animes. Well the name GunXSword sounds familiar but I've never seen it, unless it's a name change. I wouldn't be surprised if Bleach eventually comes to Adult Swim. Hell, a new company should start over with One Piece and bring it to Adult Swim as it clearly deals with way too many "mature" situations and is chock full of blood. Christ, 4Kids cut out an entire arc!
It's nice to see Stroker and Hoop cancelled. That animation makes me want to vomit as it IS vomit and the animators vomit on it while they are making it, which in turn gets vomit all over the equipment. |

Are there any giant robots in any of those? If so... pass. Are there any animes that one might say are similar to Bebop or Champloo? If so... tell me!
And on the better news front, May 30th Venture Bros will be released on DVD! Sweet! The entire first season plus the pilot and that Christmas special, and deleted scenes!
Also, it starting March 27, AS will launch AS Fix where at any given time (not just Fridays) they will have select AS shows available to watch on their website. Nice. |

So they "aired" online the final ep of Champloo... good stuff. Good animation, great soundtrack, interesting story with well fleshed out characters. If all anime was that good, I might actually be a fan. But alas.
Now it's wait till May for something to watch on AS (well, Boondocks is pretty good). I gave up on Full Metal awhile ago. Everything else is in reruns, sucks, or has giant robots and 43 year old men googling big breasted 13 year old girls... Maybe I'll try picking up GitS2 again. |

| 43? Usually they're much older? What show exactly has these men using everyone's favorite search engine for child pornography? How could you give up on full metal? Yeah I guess having to sit through those voices might make me give up too. |

53? I dunno. I just picked a random number. I got my point across.
And it wasn't the voices in FMA. I just got tired of sitting through boring ass episodes. There would be a great ep, and then 2 that just dragged on going nowhere. The series would of been better if they crammed it into 26 episodes. Not to mention the lack of a good soundtrack... I'll probably go back to it at some point (seeing how few good animes there are). But first I need to watch GitS2... at some point. |

| FYI, Adult Swim Fix has opened for business. Now you can watch select AS shows 24-7! Boondocks, Champloo, ATHF, Space Ghost, Birdman, Sealab, it's all here. Sure the quality isn't great, but it ain't not bad and it's free! |
