On BET there's a SC2 commercial that points out that the ONLY way to play as Link on SC2 is on Gamecube.

Anyone seen it?

Considering the fact that I DONT watch BET, no I havent. lol, anyways, I do want to see it[and I do want the game]. How is the commercial?

I havn't seen it either. I did see a commercial for Wario World where Wario was hinding behind a podeum while someone was giving a speech. Hmm, I wonder what he was doing down there.

You can only play as Link on GC? Really? Do they mention that you can only control the game properly on PS2 or Xbox? I think I've made my intentions to get this game on a platform other then GC clear already...

So in conclusion, I don't watch BET.

P.S. SC2 may control well on the PS2 controller but the Xbox controller resembles the feeling of ass, and not baby ass either. I'm talking about hairy overweight landlord ass.

I don't know. While GC's controller still is the most comfortable, its actual functionality is pretty crappy for non-Nintendo games (small d-pad, useless Z button, topless c-stick, bizare huge A, ect). Dual-Shock 2 isn't nearly as aergodynamic (sp?), but it plays great. And call me nuts, but I really like the Xbox S controller (fuck the original). More then either of the other too since its a better comprimse of comfortable handling and functionality.

Concerning Soul Calibur, the C-stick and Z button aren't even an issue. I personally don't like the Xbox-S d-pad for responsitivity (word?) reasons. It may be rubbery comfortable, but doesn't feel right. Of course the GC d-pad is just as bad since 75% of the time when you press what you think is "right" you're actually pressing "diagonal right" which is important for fighters. The analog stick actually functions pretty well for SC2, but not as good as a stick...In the end, the best controller option IS the dual shock 2. Unfortunately the PS2 version just happens to have the "worst" version. Though it's downfaults are minor.

The commercial goes something like this:

The familiar "adult styled Link" model making slashes and screams as he slices nothing at all like in the demo, just with no background.

Then it says something like "Link has taken on a different type of adventure. You can only play as link in the EXCLUSIVE Gamecube version of Soul Calibur 2" as they show some in-game action.

Then there's the new Gamecube whisper at the end.

yea the commercial sucks, i saw it on comedy central today. Mostly what you see is link fighting, then you hear soul calibur 2, then some jibber jabber, then you hear only for gamecube really loud. Its going to trick alot of people who aren't real big into console gaming and the internet into thinking its only coming out for gamecube atleast for a few days.

Still haven't seen it, d'oh. Though I have seen that commercial for the *free* GC preview disc when you buy the system a ton on MTV.


And I think it's all a matter of opinion. Because IMO, GC has the worst version, by far. IMO a fighting game is ALL about control. Without it, and it's nothing. I don't care what extra character one might have or who's graphics are better. I can't say which I'll get (depends on if I have an Xbox by then), but I can say which one I won't be getting... thanks preview disc!

yes but those that are getting someting to alter their control can bask in the quality that is...i dunno, im getting the gamecube version obviously.

I've also seen a GC commercial with that whisper. It was for Rogue Squadron 3! Damn this game is coming out in September or something...I found it a little odd that they would show it. It doesnt seem like they're hiring any big companies for advertising anymore. Let's see, theres the Nintendo whisper now, the Sega scream, the PS2 zing, the Xbox "earthquake" and Phantom cry for forgiveness. Everyone has their hook.

Not to be outdone, today i saw a similar ONLY ON GAMECUBE commercial for F-Zero today with the whisper.

I think the whisper symbolizes how us Gamecube owners are ashamed to own up to it lol

It does seem odd to be advertising games so far in advance. I'm no marketing exec, but I would think it would make more sense to advertise once the games were out so people will see it and can go right out and get it before the buying impluse wears off. Trying to build hype for the games? I'll just wait till I see ads for the 2 games I want...

I guess it is a matter of opinion on the Controllers....at least all agree that the GC Controller is the worst....but ive really grown accustomed to the Controller S its about the same as ps2 with DC triggers instead of L buttons....and since SC2 on DC rocked so much i will prob buy mine for my Xbox....id rather have Spawn then Heiachi...

Wait, we all agree? So Im like not here or something? I personally wouldnt want to play the game with a controller. My choices would be ps2 and then...its a toss up between Xbox-S and GC because you dont have to use those crappy black and white buttons but the dpad is so bad....

You wouldn't want to use a controller? I'm assuming you mean you'd rather use an arcade joystick device. Which would be nice, but I'm too cheap to get two of those suckers (which arn't cheap for even one good one), and fighters are all about multiplayer. So for me it's a tossup between the S-Controller and Dual Shock 2. GC's is definitely the worst for non-Nintendo games. Though I think anything would work for Nintendo these days and their move towards making every game 1 button... Bam!
