Yep, I picked this up today, along with the new Less Than Jake album... Which is just pure awesome in music form, for the record. Anyway, I played three of the demos, because I have Splinter Cell already, and I couldn't care less about Sonic DX.
Soul Calibur II
You get to play through four levels in the arcade mods as either Cassandra (think Sophitia) or Nightmare. I'm not too sure about getting this one for the GC, despite the NP shilling... I don't know. I just found the control scheme kind of akward with the way Nintendo chose to lay out the buttons. Trying to press X and Y in conjunction was tough, becuase of the huge fucking green button. Plus, I prefer using the d-pad for fighting games, and we all know that story by now. Barring an insane graphical diffrence, I think I'll be getting this on PS2.
Viewtiful Joe
Wow! It took me a few minutes to get used to, no doubt, but THIS is how you do a next gen side scroller. The game has a graphic style never before seen, the action is fast and furious, and the view effects add an entire layer of depth to the game. That guy moving too fast for poor Joe? Just slow the world down, and have at him! I'll DEFINATELY be picking this one up when it hits. This was one of my most anticipated GC games, but now it IS my most anticipated GC game.
Billy Hatcher
Absolutely gay-tarded. Yes, it was so lame that I had to combine two derogitory words into one to effectively convey my hatred for this title. |

| Thats great to hear about Viewitful Joe, a bummer to hear about Billy Hatcher, and wondering about the Soul Calibur 2 deal. Thanks for the insight! |

I should be picking up the disk tomorrow (which is actually today). I already knew VJ would be awesome, I just didnt know how much. I really want to play this bad boy. SCII, I really dont think the control is a problem besides the d-pad. However, I'll be getting the Hori stick so it really doesnt bother me at all. Why cant you guys scrape together $20 for a PS2 to GC controller adapter for the better graphics and Link? Jesus Heihachi is the lamest weapons based fighter ever. Ill give you 1 guess why, 2 if he has that stupid diaper outfit.
Billy Hatcher lame? Possibly. But Ill play it for myself before any crazy judgement. |

Did I say I'd NEVER fight with him? Of course I will. I think I said that he probably wont become one of my favorites, but then there's a good chance he might. This isnt just a game with Link in it, it's SOUL CALIBUR that just happens to have Link in it.
I mentioned the control issue because I dont think that the face buttons will be a problem but Ill find out once i find that goddamned disc. I called 2 gamestops (Im back at home now), 2 EB's, a Walmart, and Toy Works. NONE of them have it. One gamestop about 30 minutes away said they might be getting some later today. As far as Nintendo making money on those discs, Im pretty damned sure that if stores sell them, they don't make any money on them. It's probably the same way magazines work. Companies like Ziff Davis dont make any money on the EGM's we sell at gamestop because they are just given to us. If the GC preview discs are given out with new GC's, Im sure that any money stores make off of them is 100% profit for them. Same deal goes with the selling of the bonus Zelda discs for $20. They are marked used because it is 100% profit and none of that sale goes to Nintendo. |

hmm a movie over VJ...what's wrong with you?? Just download the movie in high res. Then again, I dont know where to find it nowadays. Actually the Nintendo E3 site has a nice chunk of SCII with Link doing his thing. I do want to just see SCII in action. When I say that, I mean I want to create the action, not watch a battle between Seigfried and Taki, which was awesome by the way. I cant believe they actually made the gameplay smoother! Yeah so...no disc yet. Im not too happy.
Games I played to make up for lack of disc today:
-Rush 2049 -Sonic Adventure 2 (Sonic/Shadow levels) -Giga Wing 2 -brief stints in Zelda and Castlevania with my new DC emulator -F-Zero X
Now that Im home, I can play these 2 systems that Ive been missing out on for a long time...well my roommate had his DC but i rarely played it outside of SC a couple times and his NES roms. Oh and surround sound GC gaming is back |

| I don't know about the gameplay being smoother... I do know that the more I play the demo, the more I loathe the GC controller. |

| well after playing SC and watching someone play SC, the movies of SCII just seem smoother. Hey whatever happened to Capcom making a special fighting controller for GC? Hmm, its too bad that SNES-like GC controller didnt come out in stores over here. That would probably work great for SC. |

I got my demo disc at best buy in arlington, va for 10 bucks.
I'm surprised nobody bitched about sonic adventure dx:
[00:48] <dreamie> whats the dx on the sonic [00:48] <GeNeRaL> nizzice [00:48] <TorkWORLD> i'll tell you dreamie [00:48] <TorkWORLD> the dx means [00:48] <dreamie> uh oh [00:48] <TorkWORLD> it's the dreamcast version [00:48] <TorkWORLD> with added [00:48] <TorkWORLD> slowdown and choppy frame rate [00:49] <TorkWORLD> lol [00:49] <GeNeRaL> how ghey [00:49] <dreamie> lol god [00:49] <TorkWORLD> awful [00:49] <TorkWORLD> it's the exact same demo that was on the Dreamcast sampler [00:49] <TorkWORLD> the 1st level
Viewtiful Joe grows on you, especially when you slow shit down to cheat, like on the slot machine.
Billy Hatcher seems cool, without the demo there would be no chance in hell i'd buy it.
I'm still cleaning the cum out my pants from playing Soul Calibur 2. The fun is back. They added some nipples and cleavage a la DOA, but graphically this a Dreamcast game. Hell even the cheap ringouts are back! www.torkworld.cjb.net |

| Yeah, I tried the pressing A thing, and it does work. Unfortunately, its not a cheat code designed to make the game "good" or anything. |
