From Nintendo Power (they can't be biased, right?), here are a few reasons why GC owns them all! (Nintendo Power, Page 28, Volume 169)

"You've probably seen the arguements raging on the Internet chats and bulletin boards about which console is the best or what game is the hottest. Some misguided gamers think the Nintendo GameCube is a toy for tots. On the contrary: Players of all ages revere Nintendo games, and some of the best Mature-rated games are exclusive to GCN. At Nintendo Power, we think it's a tragedy when gamers turn away from pure gaming excellence because they're afraid of what someone might say. The next time a deluded gaming guru tells you that the GCN is lame, refer him or her to Nintendo Power's...

TOP 10 REASONS GCN BEATS THE PANTS OF PS2 ANX XBOX!

10. The handle. Okay, so it's a little goofy, but imagine trying to take an Xbox with you to a friend's house or on vacation. You would need an industrial crane and a parking permit

9. It only plays games. That's right. Anyone who tells you that playing DVD's on a game console is a benefit has never had someone monopolize the machine for hours of playing Meg Ryan movies while the rental game you have to return in three hours to gather dust.

8. It's more powerful than PS2. PS2 has slower processors and its graphics are noticeably inferior to the GCN's. Sorry--there's nothing very funny about that.

7. Gone platinum. The Platinum GCN is a work of art, shiny and sophisticated. PS2 and Xbox look like every other piece of electronics hardware created in the past 20 years, and dust really shows up on those black casings.

6. Controller design. The PS2 Controller has way too many buttons, and the Xbox controller was designed for a giant or an octopus. Ah, but the GCN Controller is elegant and practical--an extension of the human spirit; an epiphany in plastic; the ultimate interface between mind, body and technology.

5. Experience. Nintendo has consistently produced the highest quality video games for more than two decades dating back to Donkey Kong. You can bet that Nintendo will continue to do so in the future. Twenty years ago, Sony was making Betamax tape machines and Microsoft hadn't even come up with Windows. What will they be doing tomorrow?

4. The incredible freedom of the WaveBird Controller. You can even play from the bathroom. Let freedom ring!

3. Game Boy Player. More than a hundred million people have Game Boys and we suspect that most of them own a game or two. With the Game Boy Player, all those millions of deserving gamers will be able to play their games on Nintendo GameCube as well as on their Game Boys.

2. Connectivity. Sony and Microsoft can't do it because they don't have Game Boy. They have robotic dogs and word processors. Let's face it, they're not really game companies. But Nintendo does only games, which is why Nintendo innovates ways to play--linking consoles, swiping cards, visiting villages filled with animals and sailing the high seas in a talking boat.

1. Exclusivity. The GCN offers The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil Zero, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, StarFox Adventures, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Mario Kart, Metroid 2, Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, Pikmin II, Resident Evil 4 and Soul Calibur II as Link. (That's fifteen exclusive reasons GCN remains supreme.) Try naming 15 exclusive hit PS2 titles. As for Xbox, you can count the number of exclusive hit titles with one finger."

Yes, we get it. XBOX is large. With cutting edge humor like this, its no wonder that Nintendo Power is commonly labeled one of the top gaming magazines in the industry...

I don't have a DVD player in my room. I have a PS2 in my room. PS2 plays DVDs. End of story.

This, like communism is relevent in theory. Its up to the developer to care enough to take the time to put the extra gc recourses to use.

Sooooo... We're supposed to convince people that one of the GC's main selling points is that it looks cool, and has a handle? I put my systems in my satchel when I bring them places, which negates the purpose of the handle entirely.

Sony followed the old "if it aint broke, don't fix it" rule when designing the PS2 controler. Now, the GC controler isn't bad by anymeans. Its comftorble as all hell, BUT who can forget the Z button and the D-pad?

I... Play games on my couch. My cords have about 3 feet of slack.

The first valid point they've made. This thing is gonna rock.

Wow, when you can't beat the competition at their own game, what better way to get petty revenge than by touting crappy gimmicks and making cheap potshots?

-Jak and Daxter
-Sly Cooper
-Ratchet and Clank
-Ico
-Final Fantasy X
-GTA III
GTA: Vice City
-Devil May Cry
-Twisted Metal: Black
-Tekken 4
-Gran tourismo 3: A Spec
-Mark of Kri
-Maximo
-The Getaway

Oh, and all the games I listed have already come out. Its kind of rash to name UNRELEASED titles classic hits. Plus, MGS: Twin Snakes is just a remake of a PSONE game, damn it.

Oh, and putting down SC2? Thats REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLY stretching it.

In conclusion, fuck Nintendo Power. Fuck them up their stupid asses.

Nintendo Power needs a magazine 'makeover'. I mean, when a Magazine has More Game Boy Advance guides, then articles about games...then you KNOW something is wrong. A makeover would do NP good...as long as they dont turn there review section into something like EGM's new review section!!! [I loved the Old EGM review system, Damnit!]

Let's play Devil's Advocate for a moment (and not the pinball game):

10) A LITTLE goofy? They didn't point out if ever in a dark alley late at night, you'd probably want to be caught carring a Xbox over a purple GC.... great to knock unconcience any potential mugger.
9) I wouldn't call that a +, not nessasarily a -, but not a +.
8) GC > PS2 & XB because GC more powerful then PS2... umm, forgeting something?
7) Platnium does look bitchin. I'll be nice and give a pity point.
6) PS2 has what, 1 more button then GC and that's too many? Tell that to any EA Big game... GC's most comfortable in your hands, PS2's most functional.
5) Okay, two points. Then again, what ever happened to Atari and Sega?
4) But without rumble, who cares if you can play on the can!
3) Fine, but I don't like a plus of GC being the GBA. Now if only it would unlock Metroid in Prime for me....
2) Ugh, minus a point. "Swipping cards" is innovative? Sheesh.
1) Finally a real reason... though I could name 15 good exclusive PS2 games like klam, and maybe 15 different ones (no GT3? VF4? Kingdom Hearts? DDR? original SSX? no Madden with online?;), and if you add upcoming games... (I wonder on which *one* finger they are counting Halo....)

NP will only become 'decent' the day they decide to come with game demo discs,

Gamerfeed.com reported that you can buy the New Demo disc that has SC 2, Viewtiful Joe, and Billy Hatcher for around $10 in stores now....and yes, Nintendo Power would kick some ass IF it did come with a demo disc. PS2 and XBox has one in there official mags, why not Nintendo??

I dont think I'll be reading all this. At least not now. The whole NP thing was incredibly stupid, even if it was a joke. Just because I use the handle often doesnt make it a huge feature. For God's sakes, they sell carrying cases for them! Anyway...I used to get Nintendo Power because our school had some magazine fund raiser and that was the only good magazine to choose from so I got it. It was never that great of a magazine and I would have kept it if it came with a demo disc. Though I would have really liked that smash bros. cd.

Even I can name 15 great exclusive PS2 games. Im waiting for that adapter bundle...or maybe I wont. I do have a 20% discount :cool .

.- ---- --- - --- ---- -.
As long as we've got a 4th player at the end of the day,
I've got this feeling every game is gonna turn out to be ok.

11. Playing imports on GameCube is morally wrong.

Seriously, what is this about Nintendo cracking down on people who import games? Right now it seems in Europe they are threatening stores who sell imports. Why? Because GC is getting its ass kicked in Europe? Is North American next on it's list? I just don't get it.

Don't ever try and tell me Nintendo cares more about its fans then Sony or Microsoft. That is such bull. Nintendo is still just a business like everyone else. If they really did care, they wouldn't do that... and they would of gone online long ago.

Nintendo is a business, this is true. Though I do believe Miyamoto is a great man that really loves for people to enjoy his games. I won't defend Nintendo as a company.

As for this importing, I think the problem is standard stores selling imported games. That would be like Gamestop or EB selling imports as opposed to an import shop. I dont think Nintendo is cracking down on UK import shops in general. Though if they are, that is quite lame.

I pawned my GC just recently. Here's why...

- Lack of good games that you can honestly just sit down and play for half an hour or whatever and then get up and leave.

- Tired of just looking at it, seing all the gimmicks - "Look at the neat handle! Look at the ports on the bottom YOU'LL NEVER EVER USE!"

- Uncoolness. I am ashamed to tell people that I have (had) a GC. not because it's nintendo or it's "kiddy," but because everyone can see by now that it's just a horrible hell-spawned machine that has no place in any home. I liked it at first, thought it was pretty cool...then I realized that I'd never get to play a lot of really cool looking games, and I'd be stuck with the same four forever. I should've just gotten a PS2 in the first place.

Honestly, someone give me ONE GOOD REASON (And I mean a realreason) that justifies staying with the cube.

Not to Bad, I guess...lol. I bought my GC here a couple months ago from a good friend for $200 bucks...4 controllers, 8 games[well I should say 6, two of them WERE NOT His!!], and two mem. cards. The pawn shops around here wont even take Dreamcast and gave my friend 40bucks for his DC and psone.....pawn shops are evil!!!

I would easily forgive Nintendo for all their fuckups and lack of 3rd party games, but when a game company blatantly IGNORES what their customers want, there's no excuse.

What am I referring to? It rhymes with online gay. lol

Ports you never use? All three of them already have uses: BBA, gameboy player, and that other one supports an upcoming hard drive disc or something. I could easily give you a good reason to keep the cube, though i dont think you'd agree psydd. Me and my 23 games don't seem to mind the comfortable surroundings of my home. Honestly though, I do think you'll be wanting a GC again for Mario Kart. Who knows.

As for online play, Gamespy has solidified their deal with Nintendo to provide online gaming. So while Nintendo doesn't want to deal with online directly, at least they are providing the option for it. Oh and I read in an interview that they are currently working on an online structure plus some games. Like I said, they're a business like everyone else, and they don't see online as a profitable area right now.

P.S. I use the handle quite frequently.

What online games? Where did you read this? at E3 they said they had no plans for any first party online games. Also, unless Mario Kart supports GameSpy tunneling, I could'nt care less.

Oh, and Psydd's right... Besides the five games I have already, there are no games currently out on the GC that I could actually sit down and get into... Although, Viewtiful Joe is coming out, that doesn't rectify the current situation.
