Thank god, thank the lord and amen:

Quote:
For starters, the E3 demo lets players pick from one of 16 characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Koopa Troopa, Koopa Paratroopa, Yoshi, Birdo, Bowser, Baby Bowser, Wario, and Waluigi. *Phew* -- not a bad list of playable characters for an early E3 version! We know what you're thinking: "No Toad? Ack!" While Nintendo would not confirm which characters will be immediately available in the final build of the game, it did specifically state that the layout of the character selection screen should not be considered an indication of how many (if any) secret, unlockable characters will be in the final version.

WHEW, big quote. Anyway this means there ARE secret characters and Toad SHOULD be in there. Plus, we might see Shy Guy and Boo in there too. WHY THE HELL NOT?? So in conclusion...thank goodness.

I've got this feeling every game is gonna turn out to be ok.

Yeah, I hope to Christ they throw in some cool extras, because the line-up thus far just doesn't do it for me.

Also, I'm still kinda pissed about the "specialty" "kerts, like a tank and a gjdsho;ighdsfa;iog crib.

It wouldnt be too tough for Nintendo to add the Klassic Kart (wait this isnt mortal kombat...) as a secret unlockable. Seriously, they could use the same render from the smash bros trophy for god's sakes! Anyway, some karts look pretty sweet, while the other half look lame. The IGN impressions really are gettin me essited. Also check out this pic:

8 TV's, one game. Hmmm.

nbrid you're probably on to something there. Although I suspect that unlocking anything like that will involve using a GBA to further promote gba-gc linking. Like how you get the extras in metroid prime and stuff.

I sure hope there are a lot of unlockables. Like Melee numbers. It makes sense since that's Nintendo's trend now. MK64 came out before this trend so didn't have any.... ASSUMING none of this unlocking requires a GBA... if it does............................

I read too that you can hook up 8 GC's to play 8 player LAN which is nice. So it doesn't rule out online GameSpy like the 2 GC style did. Still don't know if I'd ever get use out of either style.

Everything sounds pretty sweet... my only question is why did they get ride of the power slide turbo thing? First the coins go, then that? D'oh. Their killin us hardcore players;)

But anything Adam Sessler is pictured with has got to kick ass!!!

If this thing has GameSpy support, rock! Otherwise, linking GC's is absolutely useless. No game has ever compelled me enough to go out, buy a link cable, and cart another TV/system over to my house just so a friend and I can have our own full screen. This isn't going to start a trend for me either.

old joke, but highly appropriate for 2 reasons:

1. He used the word "phat" which i have a high disgust for.
2. He was saying that Xbox was the best because it had the best graphics, best sound, and no memory card. I just find it funny that people that talk about loving xbox (gamestop customers) never reference a great game library.

At least give the guy credit for not lying when he easily could have.

In case you missed this story at GCA, read it here! Could make online gaming on GC via the LAN much easier then it was on Xbox. If true. Just seems odd Nintendo made no mention of it even though this says the GameSpy software to play LAN via the internet is right in the game? Zah?

Today I went to the Gamespy booth to conduct a small and simple interview with GameSpy's President, Jon Epstein. After exchanging business cards, the questions began.

The word "tunneling" was introduced to many gamers with the software that Gamespy released for Halo and many of other Xbox games that didn't utilize Xbox Live but did use LAN.

Tunneling IS NOT being used for any of Nintendo's upcoming LAN utilized games. The information which came to me as a huge shock, is actually better than it sounds. According to Gamespy, Nintendo came to them about a year ago for LAN software. Nintendo did not want to use "tunneling, because it would require gamers excessive hardware such as hooking up multiple cables, computers, hubs, and what not.

Instead, Mr. Epstein, went on to reveal that Nintendo will be using Gamespy developed "in-game" software. Much is not known about this except the fact that all gamers have to do is hook an internet cord from the Gamecube to their broadband modem and that's it. You are online as soon as you plug in the ethernet cord and choose the LAN option.

I repeat: "tunneling" will not be used and extra hubs, computers, and extra ethernet cords will not be needed as Nintendo wanted to keep it simple. It is simple in-game software that will be used in upcoming Nintendo LAN games.
