Whats going on with CAPCOM!!!!!!!

Ok, they revealed there finical numbers today....The only system that sold as expected was Gamecube. They expected 3 million copies of software to be sold, and 3.25 million were sold!! PS2 numbers were lower than expected. Now to Xbox...they expected to sell 600,000 shares of software and only sold 250,000. Whats the point of all of this??

Well, Capcom being the marketing marvels that they are...[lets rehash every game that sales at least 100,000 copies!! More Street Fighters! More Resident evil! Yay!!!] has decided to LOWER Gamecube support!! Then INCREASE Ps2 and Xbox b/c they expect ps2 and xbox sales to increase, and GC's to decrease....man, what is this world coming to????? Lowered Capcom support!!! WHY GOD WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it IS the in thing to blame all your troubles on GC... but it should also be mentioned that Capcom games still sold more on PS2 then GC. Just their expectations were lower on GC is all, much lower. So it still makes more sense in the end to bring more games to PS2 (maybe not at the expense of GC though).

A few interesting things out of Capcom today:

* Viewful Joe and Killer 7 are not GC exclusives (though no concrete plans for other versions were given).
* PN.03 and RE4 are GC exclusives (seeing as how PN03 tanked in Japan).
* Dead Phoenix has not been cancelled, just nothing new to show so won't be at E3.
* A new '4-plr online PS2 game' called Monster Hunter was announced.
* Seems Capcom will be developing the Nightmare Before Christmas for PS2.
* RE4 will be shown in video form at E3 at Nintendo's and Capcom's booth.


I also just read that the RE Outbreak (PS2) will be kinda, sorta like PSO? I hadn't been following since RE is almost dead IMO, and not sure if thats good or bad (and not in any 'PSO sucks' kind of way).

Although Killer 7 and Viewtiful Joe are not definately exclusive, Capcom said they haven't even thought of porting those 2 games over to the other guys. It may happen, it may not. I do think it's a little odd to have a number of exclusive GC titles but they expect to sell less than last year. MAYBE because there's no new RE game in this fiscal year? Maybe. Definately? probably...
