I know of the 4 left around here half will bash me for what I'm about to say, but I can't help it.
Looking at that list leaves me with the feeling that this isn't going to be GC's year, to put it as nice as I possibly could. I mean look at some of the bigger names for each console.
PS2: GT4, FFXI, FFX-2, Syphon Filter, Jak2, Maximo 2, R&K2, Castlevania, DDR, Silent Hill 3, Arc the Lad Xbox: Fable, BC, Halo 2, Brute Force, Star Wars KotOR, CS, Arx Fatalis GC: Mario Kart, Pikmin 2, Mario Tennis/Golf, PN03, RE4, Sonic Adventure
GC's just seems flat. PS2 has such HUGE games as GT4 and quite possibly two FF's including a MMORPG one? Xbox's long awaited and hyped Fable is there and of course Halo 2. Then GC to show off Mario Kart?! Just seems lackluster after mentioning all those others.
Sure many 'seem' to be missing from the list like MGS for GC and GC's FF. But if both PS2 FF's make it out this year, I see GC's 'sidestory' FF getting lost in the shuffle. Plus I'm sure the others have games not listed too (like Xbox's Ninja Gaiden which could be sweet, and I bet you anything Rare will show off at least one game for the fall).
Does Nintendo have anything up their sleve? Seemingly no major blockbuster, no online play. What could there be? Are they planning all their hype for GBA-GC hookups? Or the wi-fi LAN network ability? Yawn... Not saying the lineup is crap, just when you compare it to the lineup on PS2 and even Xbox, it just is very unexciting to me. I guess we'll see come mid-May... | Well I'm just used to Bone's GC bashing. I only wonder what would happen if he didn't care about GC's success. Maybe it would never come up? Anyway Im sure there are more games that we don't know about. There always are. I dont recall seeing a few games Im interented in, in that list anywhere, but I dont feel like checking back so I'll just leave you with that vague statement. |

And that's exactly it. If it didn't pain me to see the state Nintendo/GC is currently in I wouldn't give a shit in the least.
And based solely on that list, PS2's looks good to me. Even though there is no GTA, it should be their best lineup yet (though Im not sure what is planned for fall here in the US). FF XI alone almost assures another dominate fall for PS2. Then add maybe FF:X2 and GT4.... and Jak 2 and R&C2...
Xbox is a much bigger "if". If their games fail to meet expectations like so many of their games, it won't be all that much. But if Fable and SW: KotOR alone meet expectations, Xbox is looking good.
GC seems to be putting a lot of their hopes on 3rd party games like maybe MGS and FF:CC, they even said as much in an interview today. We'll see if it pays off... but for a system so dependant on 1st/2nd party games in the past, this is a MAJOR change. A good change in the long run, but maybe one that in the short term is gonna hurt, and hurt a lot (in terms of sales). Like GC falling deep into 3rd just gearing up for GC2 in 2005.

| To be fair, most of Nintendo's hand held competition hasn't had the recourses Nintendo has to draw on. The Game Gear did, and as a result it ended up doing pretty good. Come on though. The Neo Geo pocket? There was no way SNK could have gone head to head with Nintendo. Oh, and Wonderswan? I'm still not even sure if they released that in the U.S., if thats an indication as to how well it did. |

I'm gonna go through those
> Eternal Darkness 2 outsourced to Darkworks – developers of Alone in the Dark. nay. SK did an awesome job with the first one, and they should save the sequel until after they're done with the MGS conversion. > The next Gamecube Zelda title developed by Capcom. nay. Capcom is very hit or miss... They've been on a orll lately, but Zelda? > Pilotwings developed by Factor 5 to be 4 player and released un June 2004 yay > Hideo Kojima developing a GCN version of Boktai huh? > Zoonami’s Game Zero LAN compatible yay > Square developing Mario RPG and a remake or sequel to Final Fantasy VII yay (even though I've been adamant on my "no remake" stance, I'm gonna have to make an exception for one of my favorite games of all time) > Starfox Armada to include ground combat and morphing vehicles yay > EA developing Goldeneye 2, possibly with Free Radical nay, let the legacy die. Start a new franchise or something... Hell, it'll sell millions regardless. > NST developing Donkey Kong GC meh, DK64 was a pile of crap. > Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7 in video form. yay > Metal Gear Solid 3 multiplatform yay for GC owners, but I'll still be getting the PS2 version. > Gamecube SP shown wtf? > Rockstar stuff to be shown Most of their "non GTA" stuff is total crap. > Sega developing Super Monkey Ball 3 and Daytona Online, more AM2 support for GCN, Billy Hatcher to include bizarre multiplayer modes. More Sega is always a good thing. Especially pertaining to online play. > One of EAD’s new franchises is long canned N64 adventure Jungle Emperor Leo which will use the Wind Waker engine New Nintendo franchises are also welcome... Especially with EAD at the helm. |

My turn!
> Eternal Darkness 2 outsourced to Darkworks – developers of Alone in the Dark. ---outsourced? So does this mean they are selling all their rights on the franchise? Im not quite sure about this one.
> The next Gamecube Zelda title developed by Capcom. ---Well Im pretty sure Capcom is doing the next GBA Zelda game(s), but definately not the GC version. Zelda and Mario are like all that's left for Nintendo themselves to make. If Capcom does make the next GC game, Ill have to buy another hat and eat it.
> Pilotwings developed by Factor 5 to be 4 player and released un June 2004 ---yes this could be good. I never really played the n64 version
> Hideo Kojima developing a GCN version of Boktai ---Im with klam. HUH?
> Zoonami’s Game Zero LAN compatible ---werd. But WHAT IS IT??
> Square developing Mario RPG and a remake or sequel to Final Fantasy VII ---Sweet. I only played a little Mario RPG but I loved Paper Mario. As some of you know, Ive never really played a FF game and starting off with FF origins (hopefully ill get a ps2 this summer) and FF7 would be a good start. Well that and Crystal Chronicals.
> Starfox Armada to include ground combat and morphing vehicles ---Fricking awesome. The one player mode better rock though.
> EA developing Goldeneye 2, possibly with Free Radical ---Well with both of them working together and there will probably be the facility level....Ill probably buy it.
> NST developing Donkey Kong GC ---klam may reference the N64 version being crap but the GC version will be completely different. That reference is completely void on this topic. It should support GBA connectivity unless there are going to be TWO DK games this time.
> Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7 in video form. ---Killer 7 = good. RE4 = I'll watch the movie just for the hell of it.
> Metal Gear Solid 3 multiplatform ---i have a feeling this one is true. If so, I could pick it up. Then again, ill have a ps2 by the time it comes out either way.
> Gamecube SP shown ---uhhh. Where are you getting this stuff?
> Rockstar stuff to be shown ---yeah like what though? Smugglers Run online would be cool.
> Sega developing Super Monkey Ball 3 and Daytona Online, more AM2 support for GCN, Billy Hatcher to include bizarre multiplayer modes. ---yes, Yes, and i know. I dont even know if ill be able to play online next semester since i wasnt supposed to be able to get my GC online this year to begin with...Fucking assholes. As for Billy Hatcher, I have a feeling this game will play like those far too sparse levels in Ratchet and Clank where you control Clank's minions to do your bidding. Possibly the most entertaining thing in the entire game. I read about the multiplayer stuff last night.
> One of EAD’s new franchises is long canned N64 adventure Jungle Emperor Leo which will use the Wind Waker engine ---I dont remember this game but I'd rather just see Mario 128. So sue me. [please dont sue, NStorm] |

> I agree ED 2 should be Silicon Knights only. Alone in the Dark was good back in the day.... way back. (By 'outsourced' I think it means almost like how SK is doing MGS on GC, that's all) > This rumor would be not good. Nintendo only should do the console Zeldas. But I dont think its true (but Id buy another hat just in case Hy...) > Pilotwings is nice, but over a year away still? Bah! > Remakes make me yawn, but another Mario RPG would be cool. Paper Mario was sweet, but Mario RPG was still probably better... maybe. > Adding ground stuff would be cool... AS LONG AS flying is still the focus of StarFox Armada > I have heard too that the DK GC would be more of a 2D 'Country' style. If so, and only if so, it might be something. > Killer 7 is the one big 5 that looks cool to me, RE4 better reinvent RE or else!! > GC SP? Dunno where that comes. Rumors Ive seen very from the GC with that LCD 'flip down' screen, to just a remodeled GC, to a GC with a GBA player built in. > You can bet the rockstar game isnt GTA... and thats all that matters. Well I do kinda like Smugglers Run. > I love Super Monket Ball... but I dont want them to bang the series into the ground so soon... man, online Monkey Ball? Drool... but we all know that wont happen.
Blah, only another week or so and this will all make more sense. On a side note, is Nintendo doing a Spaceworld this year? I heard they were even though I thought they stopped that last year?

Interesting stuff... oddly from GamePro though:
Dan Elektro of Gamepro has posted on their forums details on “Fear” and “Ground Zero“! Here is what he wrote:
"Many of you may have noticed a little blurb in this month's issue of GamePro, regarding new Nintendo Franchises, "Fear" and "Ground Zero." Man when you guys get a little tidbit of pre-E3 Nintendo news you guys really go crazy. Anyways to quell the flow of e-mails I'm going to shut you all up with a little bit more info, and some answers to your questions. Get em while they're HOT! First of all, there are two games, one called "Fear" and one called "Ground Zero." Both names we assume to be only code names at the moment. Fear is being developed internally at Nintendo and Miyamoto is heading the project himself. The game follows "a young and sheltered boy who challenges himself to overcome his many fears." From what we have heard the game will be level based with each level ending with him overcoming a fear of some sort. There will be a theme to each level, for example we have heard of a level where he overcomes his fear of heights by making his way up a treacherous mountain. Ground Zero is actually a joint development by Nintendo and an unnamed second party developer or two. A game that will "be bigger than anything you have seen so far on Gamecube." That is all we were told. For more information wait till E3."
------------------------------------------------------------ Two Nintendo game details..."Fear" and "Ground Zero"
GamePro has apparently heard some information on two new GameCube games from Nintendo, currently code named "Fear" and "Ground Zero".
While there is little information on "Ground Zero" at this point, what is known is that it is a joint development between Nintendo and an as yet unamed developer. All sources will say is that "Ground Zero" will "be bigger than anything you have seen so far on GameCube."
"Fear" is said to be led by famed developer Shigeru Miyamoto himself, and will focus on a young boy having to overcome his fears throughout the game. Each level is themed around one of the boy's fears. For example, one possible level has the boy overcome his fear of heights by climbing a mountain.
If there is any new news on these titles at E3, we'll be sure to bring them to you. Source : Gamepro
