World Cup 2002 kicks off Friday! Too bad it's over in Korea/Japan so game times are like 6am here. Ireland might of been onto something....

While I have to root for Germany and the Orange Men of Denmark... and I guess crap-ass US (who hopefully will make it out of the round-robin at least), Italy looks like a top contender... People also seem to really like Argintina. So basically, the usual contenders...

Maybe someday most of the US will catch onto soccer, but that's unlikly....

I have to root for Chile as usual cause I got into soccer when I lived there for a year cause half of my family is from there.

Please stick to the topic or you will be banned from these boards (yeah I know it's not much of a threat, but still).

Nice to see Germany kick ass and win 8-0. Sure it was over crap-ass Saudi Arabia, but it was still an impressive win nevertheless. I was disapointed Camroon only got a tie against Ireland.

if you really knew jack about chile and not something stupid like that you would realize that Santiago, Chile is on the same order as NYC and Valparaiso, Chile is on the same order as Hawaii with its climate and amount of tourists and visitors since its on the beach. Instead, people like to take the culture of Chile from the 1800s in the same way they do with mexico and many other hispanic countries instead of recognizing them as a country as civilized as ours. Look at it this way, the way many schools teach about foreign countries would be very similar to if say France taught about the US but made it seem as the whole US ran on the type of farming life style they have in alot of iowa etc.

Let me put it bluntly, I'm proud to be half Chilean and having lived there for a year I can safely say none of us ever went cow wrasslin wearing 5x10 panchos. In fact, I never even saw that type of lifestyle other than among the few poor farmers that every country has. Also, this is definitely not from a lack of seeing Chile because I have been throughout 90% of chile because we vacationed alot.

Old news now... But still kick ass that that US beat Portugal (ranked by some #5 in the world)! I was getting nervous down the stretch that the US would blow that 3-0 lead.... but they held fast. Good to see McBride do well, who I remember watching a few years back on the Milwaukee Rampage:) If US can continue and get at least a win and a tie in their next games (a big if) they could get a good seeding in the next round and actually win a game then... This win today being the US's FIFTH win EVER in the world cup:)

I also found out ESPN Classic replys the certain matches a day later, so I was able to catch that great Brazil v.s Turkey match. Kinda of a crappy way to decided it, but still besides that it was a great match... Ronaldo and Rivaldo are still forces to be delt with....
