NBrid News: Meeting and Future of...

At the request of Hybrid, I emailed this out to all "members". I am posting it here for those of you who may not have received it. Please post any thoughts, comments, well wishes, ect. at the end.

The most important meeting you will go to this year...

This Saturday (June 8th, 2002) there will be a "meeting" of sorts in #nbrid (/server irc.freedomchat.net). It will be late, starting around 11pm EST (10 CST) though depending on when people show it may be delayed some.

If you haven't noticed, the NBrid website hasn't been updated much over the past month. And there have been suggestions as to make NBrid mainly a message board based community.

If you have any thoughts on the current state of NBrid and/or any possible future for this community, try and make it. If you cannot, at least check out the boards (boards.nbrid.net/).


No matter what is decided upon about any future for NBrid, I, BoneStormer, will step down as webmaster. This was a long time coming, and with the current state of things, it seems a meaningless gesture. It has been fun over the past two years, and I thank everyone involved. I know a number of you do not want to see NBrid disappear. Where else could you write your thoughts on Resident Evil and Evil Dead? Yet, it may have reached that point.

Check out the boards and/or site for more official announcements on the future status of NBrid.

I DO think a boards community would make things a lot easier for members as far as submissions go though... Plus our forums are pretty active nowadays anyways.

This definately does not spell the demise of NBrid though... Just because we will be mainly using these forums as opposed to a flashy site doesn't mean the house party's over... I mean if Kid N' Play can make like five of those shitty movies I'm sure we can stick it out a bit longer...

This is, to me and surely many others, the greatest and perhaps final blow to NBrid. All I can say is that you are truly one talented bastard Boner, and you no doubt have good things ahead of you. On another note, you can expect the final Black Hole by this Saturday. If NBrid is going down then by God, it is gonna go down like Klam and Hy on prom night!

I already told you this last night on AIM Bone, If this is truly the way of Nbrid, I will be leaving. Sux though, I really love writing for Nbrid, even though not many people see my thoughts, it's still great! How many other sites give you the opportunity to write and get submitted on a site?

GWX didn't work out for me, I guess because it seems more of a job, then something fun. Anyways sad to see this happen, but I guess theres nothing anyone can really do to reverse this.

Hmm a few things to respond to. First, the final blow? I always wanted NBrid to be a community and having people submit articles was my idea of a community. Unfortunately, since content relied upon others, there just isnt enough to keep the site going at the pace I would like. If NBrid becomes a boards (and some chat) community, I plan on having 2 sections called Articles and Logs in which people can post editorials and other members can directly respond to them. More feedback, more of a community. The logs section is self explanatory. I would like to keep NBrid going the way it is but there just has to be more content from other members. Im sure bone is pissed that he did like 20 articles last month and only a few other people helped out. Hell, i can blame myself partly for lack of content but I wont get into all the details. All will be discussed at the meeting this weekend. The problem remains though, who else would be the webmaster? Im finalizing my new site which I'm working on with klam. Ill give some more info about it when its ready.

Oh and finally, ill be doing my own retrospect of course. Could be considered history of nbrid part 4, the end...or a new beginning.

Well,Ive told klam and Hy,but I guess Ill make this public.Now for some miserable reason theres been a slump in almost all these gaming communities and clans that ocne populated the irc0 server.However,Im hopin that Nbrid will be able to nip whatever slump we may be goin through in the bud and move past all this.I made it clear to Nick and Justin that I will be staying no matter what endeavours or courses this community may take,and Im hopin that I share an attitude with some of you.Now Bone,I hope you are only stepping down from webmaster and not Nbrid as a whole because that would suck.That would up my hitlist of lost great NB members.What with Nappa GMX Rana Weapon NoCash,we're losin the greats.But anyways I do hope that youll stick around

I don't have any current plans to up and leave per say, I'm just sick of dragging the site along so feel it best I just give that up completly... seems so many others have already... Just burnt out on it I guess.

IF try and make Nbrid a board community, I suggest finding a solution other then ezBoard and it's plethora of pop-ups.....

I wrote tons of stuff, I saw how thingsa were getting slow, i submitted alot of things in the past month, not to mention stuff that is still on my computer. But hell if Nbrid is going down i might as well save my other stuff for another site.

I have a bunch of stuff on my hard drive too... The thing is, none of it fits into NBrid... I'll be back soon though. I WILL have a piece or two ready for Saturday though. Which I am led to believe is the final update.

Well cali, you can still submit some stuff and Ill put it up. The site will be around until nicewebs screws us over for the final time. So even after nbrid becomes boards centric, the articles and everything else will still be around. As for ezboard's popups, I like how other communities can share their sigs, but there may be something else out their like gamers.com. Well, unless someone wants to PAY for ezboard...heheh
