Before GC came out they stressed how GC was to be more for all ages. Games for both younger and older games. Well, it seems they were just blowing smoke up our ass. Case in point:
On the heals of annoucing a new Contra game for PS2, Konami announces that they will make just for GC, Disney Football! I don't know about you, but I can't wait!
And by football it means Soccer to us Americans. So that makes how many soccer games on GC? Fifa 2001&2002, Virtua Striker 3, Soccer Slam, Disney, ISS (but to make it worse GC may only see Konami's Disney version and not the normal ISS)? And how many fighting, racing, RPG, FPS, ect?
The day before GS asked Sega why World Series Baseball was an Xbox exclusive and Sega in its reply said why HRK was a GC exclusive:
Quote: Home Run King is not very deep, and it lends itself to a much younger audience. It's a perfect fit for the GameCube, whereas World Series Baseball is a true simulation.
How nice.
I don't want to start the crap about all Nintendo games being 'kiddy'. Most are for all ages. Certainly games like Mario or Pikmin are not 'kiddy' just for the kids. They are all ages. GC has plenty of games just for kids though (Universal Stuios, some Donald Duck thing, other Disney crap), but there is nothing to counteract that by being for the more mature gamer. If Nintendo doesn't want to do those type of games fine, but when 3rd parties won't, Problem.
One game series in RE doesn't cut it. Not even close. Seems GC may very well be like N64 in that it's good for the 2 great Nintendo games that come out every year, but for everything else. Well, that's why gamers need a PS2 and/or an Xbox more then GC... unless GC can show something at E3... big if. Edited by: BoneStormer at: 3/7/02 4:22:04 pm

Yeah Metal of Honor is nice. I was gonna pick it up soon on PS2, but I may wait a bit to see if they say the GC version will have any enhancements, or just be a port....
And RE on GC is actually quite good. I was impressed. Graphics are better then they say, hehe. It's a bigger jump from REcv to this then REcv was over the PSX RE's.... And of course it's hard. You bloody ammo hogs....
Maybe it's just Konami pissing on GC anymore.... Maybe... I better shut up and wait for E3 in a few weeks.... |

| I'm waiting for DC3 also. It has the same level of story as RE imho, but with loads more action and difficulty and way less find key find statue find document "puzzles". And no ridiculous shortage of ammo. |

The creators of RE on GC said they could have done it all in real time but there were certain things they said that can be done better in 2d. Specifically they mentioned how lighting and certain camera angles are done better in 2d and create the atmosphere they wanted for a survival horror type game. As for DC3, its more action oriented so that makes sense to make the environments more interactive by use of fully real time environments. Senses dull now staring at the wall It must be a defect Going numb and I can't feel at all. -No Motiv |

What's with all this RE hatin? Anyways... I'm not really sure if RE was done in 'real-time' if it would be all that different. By the very nature of the game with its static camera angles and such, I don't think it matters. Look at RECV. That was real time, but did it add anything to RE? No....
Dino Crisis, more action sure. But it's a different style then the RE explore death mansion style. I can't agree that DC's story is as good as RE... and RE not a challenge?? Maybe it's just these new fuckin Crimson Heads they added are just pissin the hell out of me..... And I thought being able to walk up stairs freely now was a nice plus... that was until Crimson Heads can now chase me up them.... |

RE1-3 on PSX and REC:V, none of them have much of a challenge. The only real challenge in the games arent even real challenge, just artificial challenge, with the lack of ammo.
Like most people say, you've played one RE you've played them all. The first one was easy, the 2nd one was not as easy but still took me no time to beat. I think everyone can agree the third was probably the weakest in the series in all areas. CV was probably easier than the first. Sure you might die some but it doesnt make it a hard game. |
