I am running in circles tryin to choose. I wanted Gamecube but then i got Gamepro and read about X-box, and well hybrid...i dunno. X-box comes with a dvd player, built in broadband, 733 mhz,4 controller ports, 8mb plug,10 gb built in hd. Gamecube has well, none of that stuff. You gotta buy a 56k/broadband extra and that dvd thing well come out in a long time. Plus X-Box has better release titles (HALO!!!!) and comes out earlier. Pikiman and Lugi MAnsion....err. Hybrid change me mind, quick.

woah grim calm down!!!

think about it this way... gamecube is $100 dollars less thats 2 more games or controllers or whatever else you want... also super smash brothers resident evil... hell maybe even Final fantasy 11

plus you have a PC so all that XBOX stuff you posted really doesnt matter.

just go with what you want... either a system that offers online play as a big plus
or a system that plays games (and damn good ones at that)

im getting both so i dont have much of a choice now do i :D

Let me play Devil's Advocate, since you leaned towards XBox with your reasons, let me complicate it by going for GC:)

*Xbox does NOT have DVD movie abilities out of the box. You need a 'special' remote (I think I hear $40?) in order to play them. I have PS2 and a DVD player... I like my DVD player way more
*Built in BB is nice, but also remember Xbox is $100 more then GC
*Yes it's 733 to GC's 480... BUT Xbox is just a PIII. A recent testing of processors showed that GC's custom CPU could actually process more data (data usefull for games) then XBox's PIII, so the fact it has a higher MHZ means jack.
*GC also has 4 controller ports
*8 mb plug?? Lost me...
*10 Gig HD is very nice, best part of XBox's hardware system over GC... But you have to ask what will it be used for in terms of enhancing gameplay (as compared to say playing MP3s)? The major way will be to minimize load times of games really.
*XBox does have 2 great launch games in DOA3 and Halo. GC's launch games don't excite me either... it's the games in the coming months like Smash Bros that does

Then again your sorry pirate ass might like Xbox better since with GC's mini-DVDs your gonna have a much harder time pirating games...

And tip of the day.. NEVER listen what LamePro says... ;)

Damn you guys turned my reply from a 3 page guide to a small paragraph.

Basically I notice that you (grim) mention only hardware and nothing about games. Personally I only am interested in DOA3 as a xbox launch title and barely anything besides Sega impresses me in the future. Right now PS2's hard drive is only being used for loading games faster by downloading them right into it and a couple other things. GC's small memory cards are a downside but most games will take up very little space. Then you have the SD digicards that will eventually hold 4 Gig of space. I dont know where you got the idea that GC doesnt have 4 controller ports...

Back to games. Some people will say the launch doesnt interest them but I could see myself getting Rogue Leader, WaveRace, SSX Tricky, maybe Dave Mirra 2 and maybe Luigi's Mansion. Then Tony Hawk 3 (even if its not online compared to PS2) Pikmin and Smash Bros of course. If I knew what types of games you like to play, it would be easier to assure you which is for you. I just dont see too many great exclusive games on Xbox. Oh and Gamepro is the worst gaming magazine EVER.

well i personally am not biased toward any systems, so what i do when buying systems, i wait a few weeks after the launches and see what happens. i review the specs yes, but i also wait to see which system gets the most creative games. I am sort of leaning toward X-Box because i would like to play games like Halo, DOA3 (titties!), but on the other hand i would like the GC too with Possible Sonic sequels, Maybe some fun rpgs (im still more of a PSO freak so i would have to get used to FF games, i never really liked them except for maybe FF7 but not a whole lot), and some Mario too. another thing i look at when buying a system, which i think is the most important piece of hardware, the controller. i'm so used to the DC pad that Xbox would be perfect for me, but the GC pad looks nice too. so guys dont get so uptight yet, see what happens first and then make your decision. (or just tell me to take my post and shove it up my ass lol). its all up to you.

Hey 1331... SHOVE THAT LAME POST UP YOUR ASS!!!

Hehe... j/k... but I just wanted to comment on your controller comment. The fact XBox's looks so much like DC's worries me. Why? CAUSE I @#%$ HATE DC'S!!! Yes, I don't care what you say, I hate it. True part of the problem is fixed by adding a second analog stick, but DC's still fits so awkwardly in your hands.

Also, if you REALLY want an XBox this year you may have a hard time getting one (short of camping out at Best Buy) with just what you want since most places will only have XBox available in some sort of pakage deal. Usually 3 games (2 first party, sometimes no choice in which games) plus some accessory. Expect the minimum to pay to be $500. (BTW the DVD addon is $30, the controller is $40, my mistake.) This is part of the reason I'm getting GC now, and Xbox early next year. And oh yeah, sure XBox is launching before GC.. but by THREE days so i don't think that's much of an issue.

lol bone either youre REALLY fat or your ea midget bacause the DC controller is one of the best controllers ive ever used (next to the SNES) the WORST controller would be the sega genesis with the C button waaaaay off in the middle of nowhere...

some stats that might clear this up:

In recent gamefaqs.com polls that are voted on by more than 10,000 gamers everyday questions like these are asked:

Out of which of the next gen consoles most interests you?

The ending poll votes end up like this:

PS2: 48%
NGC: 44%
XBOX: 8%

If you don't believe look at past polls on gamefaqs.com In my opinion I look for the system that has the most interest among gamers which seems like GC and ps2 because those gamecubes will have shelf lives around 5 years instead of the 1-2 years that dreamcast had. The longer a system is around th better the games will get on it. Besides, stick with what works. I can only afford one system of those 3 so I chose a ps2. Mainly, because it will be the first online and I love online gaming, I couldn't live without online gaming. Nintendo makes good games but I have seen them make no attempt at anything being online. XBOX, well, it's made by microsoft, I would care to not see another market taken over by the big M. Sony on the other hand seems to be interested in expanding in CONSOLE gaming and not just porting PC games to ps2 like M is doing to xbox. In the end, it's not about anyone else's opinion, it's about what you want. I didn't get my gamecube until sega finally announced some online games for it and I did the same with my ps2. That 10 gb hd on xbox is @#%$ anyways. I mean, it's not like you can burn cd's on it, oh wow, a whole nanosecond is cut off of loading times. Oh and I'm intrigued with online rpg's, in specific, everquest which is owned by sony which will only be on ps2 and since I don't have a computer I haven't really been able to play everquest.

Just one last thing, don't count on a system that hasn't launched yet to do @#%$. PS2 is still outselling the recently japanese GameCube. 18 million ps2 systems worldwide is pretty impressive considering it's only been out a little more than a year in many regions. In the end, the last system I would consider buying is xbox.

OK first, no one is getting uptight or ruling a system out yet. It's great that we have people like that in NBrid. But you may think this because we may end up "bashing" a system you prefer more. Anyways on the subject of the Xbox controller. I have used it and probably speant more time annalyzing it than actually playing Oddworld...well not that long but I had enough time to get a feel. Holding it is a little worse than DC because the sides are angled outwards more than DC and its pretty thick..not a great grip at all. The D-pad and analog feel about as good as the DC controller does. The worst part about the xbox controller has to be those 2 extra face buttons. They are WAY out of the way and you have to look at the controller to tell what the hell you are pressing. But other than all that, its a pretty tight...nm. My opinion, the GC controller looks like butta.

And klam, i wish i had some of them "midget hands" so I could finally play GBA without cramping. I dont remember what else I was going to reply to but I agree that 1337, you should make a decision asap. I dont think anyone that has a PS2 should be buying an Xbox yet unless they really need a couple of those games or want the system as soon as they can get it. Ill be getting ps2 after GC mainly because Id like to play a few games on it that wont be on GC...at least for a while. But Xbox's Sega support is all that really interests me right now.

Ima go with GC for that fact that i trust Nintendo's @#%$ to work right. The X-box does sound sweet and i'll probably end up getting one but then again i look at the @#%$ Microsoft makes and all their programs sound sweet but are gliche and don't work worth a damn so im thinking the xbox may have some problems and the BB doesn't help me much being as i don't get it.As far as your pirateing goes im thinking it'll be easier to "pirate" X-box games and as far as DVD players are concerned who gives a @#%$ man?Don't tell me you've never been watching a movie and decided to play a game while you watch, i know i have, so what do you do if your useing the xbox to watch a movie with? The only thing on the x-box that i giva @#%$ about is it's games and its hard drive but for right now ima get a GC then Ps2 then maybe a x box

Ok I'll try to be as unbiased as I possibly can against the Box.
If you like PCish type games then you'll like the Xbox. If you want to seperate yourself from PC gaming then slowly step away from the Xbox. If you hate PS2 games then walk away from the Box. If you hate PC and PS2 then simply don't even look at the Box. If you like RPGs, action, adventure, sports, and all that then Buy the GameCube!
